My branch of the Watmough family spent most of the last five hundred years in central Lancashire. There was a large family of Watmoughs in Blackrod during the sixteenth century and these were probably my ancestors. The family lived in Coppull by the early 1700s, but had moved to Duxbury by the turn of the century. By the middle of the 1800s the family had moved just up the road to Weldbank Lane and the neighbouring streets, joining other Roman Catholic families clustered around St Gregory's Church. My grandfather moved to Coppull after the first world war. The Watmough family tree covers six generations of Watmoughs - to respect the privacy of individuals I have excluded details of people born after 1900 - but I am happy to supply fuller details to those who believe they may be related. |
