In the name of God Amen the twenty third day of January in the twenty eight yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord Charles the second by the grace of God, King f England Scotland France & Ireland defender of the faith &c Anno Dmi 1676 I Thomas Alker of Coppull in the County of Lancaster husbandman ?] being infirme in body yet of sound memory & understanding as ever [But knowing that all men are fraile & mortall & this present life uncertaine & death certaine and to the end that I may dispose devise & settle all that outward estate & stock of money bills bonds & all other chattels which God hath blessed mee withal, I doe make & ordaine this my last will & testament concerning all my outward estate as follwes (that is to say) I doe first resigne up my soul to God my maker & preserver to be received to himself & his kingdome upon the alone accompt of his son my Lord & saviour Jesus Christ, And my body to Christian burial for manner & place at the discretion of my executors therein & hereafter named & appointed and as to my said outward estate (after my just debts and funeral expenses bee frayed) I doe first give & bequeath twenty pounds towards a stock for the maintenance of an orthodox protestant preaching minister at Coppull Chappell the said twenty pounds to bee preserved & perpetuated for the issues& profits thereof yearly for ever to bee disposed in the hands of William Crook of Coppull aforesaid Gent. Alsoe I give & bequeath to Margaret Crook daughter to William Crook aforesaid five pounds and to Samuel Crook Thomas Crook Ellin Crook & Mary Crook all children of the said William Crook twenty shillings apiece. Alsoe I give & bequeath to Richard Vaux twenty shillings. Item to Edward Prescott twenty shillings. Item I give & bequeath to John Brownlow of Rivington ten shillings,. Item I give & bequeath to the poore of Coppull fourt shillings aAnd lastly I doe nominate & appoint the above named William Crook & Arthur Alker executors of this my last will & testament (revoakeing & making void all former wills made by mee either by word or writing) hopeing as my trust is reposed in them they will see the same performed.
