June the 3th Anno Dmi 1647

Com Lancr Examinations taken before me John Booth one of his ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace & quorum as followeth.

 Margaret Wilson of Warrington wife of Nicholas Wilson chapman saith that about Lukes tyde past she the examinant had one box of wares taken forth of a barn in Copple to the value of twenty pounds but could not hear of any part thereof till now of late at Wigan fair this examinant saw some part of her goods in the shop & possession of James Rigby which then this examinant claimed vizt two parcels of tinsell ribbon two parcels satin ribbon and six pair of childrens bracelets and further this examinant cannot depose.

 Edmond Winstanley of Standish husbandman saith that Thomas Fairclough late of Standish husbandman did bring certain goods in to this examinants house about three years ago (vizt) all these parcels of wares now shewed to this examinant and did desire Margaret this examinants wife to sell the same which she did of the [ileg] then best [illeg] unto one James Rigby of Wigan about eleven weeks ago & further cannot depose only she received twelve shillings for them.

 Ellen Catherall wife of John Katherall of Wigan Woodhouses saith that of her own knowledge she hath seen & very well knoweth severall the parcels of ribbon now shewed to her this examinant and that they were in the house of Edmond Winstanley of Standish above a year and further cannot depose.
