In the name of God Amen. I Samuel Crooke of Coppull in the County of Lancaster Esq make this my last will and testament as follows vizt Imprimis my will and mind is I hereby devise, that my executors herein after mentioned shall from and after my decease have full power and authority to sell and absolutely dispose of for ever all or any of the lands, tenements or hereditaments herein next after mentioned for the discharge of my just debts and funeral expenses (in case my personal estate fall short which in the first place I hereby devise to goe and  to be made use of for that purpose) That is to say all my interest and estate at XXXX and lying within Eccleston juxta Croston and Ulnes Walton or either of them which is in the said county and all my interest and title to an estate within Wharles in the said county mortgaged to me (by an assignment lodged in the hands of Mr Wm Hornby of Pooleton in the said county) by me John Kerby of Preesall Park in the said county and also the reversion and inheritance of a certain parcel of land about thirteen acres lying within Bispham in the said county in the possession of John Singleton of Bispham aforesaid and also one other reversion of inheritance of an estate in the possession of one William Litham and lying within Thornton in the said county, all which said estates and interest I hereby devise and authorize my said executors to sell for the discharge of my just debtsand funeral expenses if occasion require especially for the payment of the sum of three hundred and fifty pounds which I owe to my sister Mary Crooke and in case the aforementioned estates cannot be readily sold or disposed of then my said executors are hereby authorised to pay and discharge the said debts out of the yearly clear profits of my whole estate in any place. 2ndly my will and mind is and I hereby give devise and bequeath all my other real estate land tenements and hereditaments lying within the said county to Samuel Crooke my nephew for his natural life the remainder to his first son and heirs male of his body lawfully begotten and for want of such issue to the second son of him the said Samuel Crooke and to the heirs male of such second son lawfully to be begotten and for want of such second son then to the third fourth fifth or any other son and the heirs males of such third fourth fifth or any other son of the same Samuel Crooke lawfully to be begotten, the elder and his issue male to be preferred before the younger and his issue male. And for want of such issue male of the body of Samuel Crooke I give and devise the remainder of all my said estate to William Crooke brother of the said Samuel Crooke and to the first son of the said William Crooke and thei heirs male of such first son lawfully to be begotten and for want of such first son the remainder to the second son and the heirs males of such second son of the said William Crooke lawfully to be begotten. And for want of such second son then to the third fourth fifth or any other son of the said William Crooke lawfully to be begotten and to the heirs male of such thirdfourth fifth or any other such son lawfully to be begotten, the elder son and his issue male to be preferred before the younger and his issue male. And for want of such issue male then to my right heirs subject nevertheless to the charges and incumbrances herein hereafter mentioned vizt 3rdly my mind and will is and hereby devise that in case the estates formerly assigned over by me to my mother Mary Crooke in satisfaction of her dower held by lease from Mr Rigby of Layton called Booth’s Tenement and Bolton’s Tenement lying within Coppull aforesaid should drop and fall loose before the death of the said Mary Crooke then my said executors shall at any time during the Life of the said Mary Crooke be empowered to enter upon any part of the estate bequeathed and devised as aforementioned to the said Samuel Crooke and William Crooke and the same to hold let and dispose of for the satisfaction and payment of the said rent charge of thirty pounds per annum or so much thereof as shall be found short to the use of her the said Mary Crooke my mother, 4thly my mind and will is and I hereby devise that the said Samuel Crooke shall pay unto his said brother William Crooke as soon as the said William Crooke shall attain the age of twenty one years or within one year after the sum of five hundred pounds of lawful British money and in case of failures of payment of the said five hundred pounds my said executors shall be and are hereby impowered and authorised to sell and dispose of so much of the estate called Lower Burgh within Chorley in the said county as shall raise the sum of five hundred pounds for the use and benefit of the said William Crooke or in case a chapman cannot readily be found for the purchase of the inheritance of the said estate then it shall be lawful and my said executors are hereby authorised and impowered to lease all the said estate at Burgh aforesaid for a lease of three lives or twenty one years as they shall think fit and the fine or consideration for the said lease to be paid to the said William Crooke in satisfaction of the sum of five hundred pounds. 5thly my mind and will is and I hereby devise that my executors herein named shall be impowered and authorised to raise out of the yearly profits of my whole estate the sume of three hundred pounds lawful British money which said sum I give and bequeath to my sister Mary Crooke in case she marry with consent of her mother to be payed so soon as the estate can raise the sum by the yearly profits as aforesaid at the discretion of my said executors. But in case she be not married at the time of my decease or that she marry against the good likeing and approbation of her said mother then se shall only receive the sum of two hundred pounds to be raised as aforesaid out of the profits of my estate and at the discretion of my said executors as aforesaid 6thly and lastly I appoint and nominate Richard Crooke of Macclesfield esq and Thomas Marsden of Bolton in le Moors esq my kinsmen to be executors of this my last will and testament revoking all former and other wills.
